Katusha Dmitrieva 700 Seedtree Rd., Sooke, BC (East Sooke) 250-642-8808 • Email: kdmitrieva@stinkingfishstudiotour.com During my studies at Moscow National Textile Academy I learned the art of silk painting. I’ve always been fascinated by this art and it eventually became my hobby. I honed my skills during my time at the university in Moscow and have continued on since coming to Victoria. For me using silk creates something very special. Silk, which is light, transparent and breathable, transfers the same characteristics to the actual painting. Using this medium creates a huge range of directions that can be followed such as wearable textiles, wall hung paintings, screens and interior decorative textiles. My present collection has been based on the technique called “Serti“. The art of silk painting is very inspiring for me and my imagination. click to enlarge
