Beverly Petow 691 Seedtree Road, Victoria, BC (East Sooke) 250-642-6920 • Email: bpetow@stinkingfishstudiotour.com Bev Petow’s art making process is a continuing exploration of materials and tools to create 3D objects which suspend the everyday experience and explore life’s ironic nuances. Her inclination in life to take the road less traveled is no less true in her artwork. As a woman in midlife, she began working in 3 dimensions after 20 plus years in graphic design. She graduated with honors from Marylhurst University in Portland, Oregon in 1998. Her medium is steel, which she finds combines beautifully with a myriad of other materials – concrete, stone, bamboo, glass, clay – all materials she has incorporated in various works. Bev ‘mis-uses’ a wide array of tools, sometimes in a deconstructive fashion. “I have a host of old tools that I inherited from my father. They carry a familiarity from my childhood that took some 30 years to recognize. Timing is essential in the process of creative discovery.” click to enlarge
